“Two years after bottling, still in its youth, the 2017 Emmaus Cabernet Sauvignon is darkly colored but brightly aromatic. Its brooding, opaque, black-red-purple color belies the freshness and purity that marks the wine. Notes of fresh cut flowers, bing cherry and baking spices dominate the aroma profile, but with time in the glass more complexities arrive—graphite, blackberry, grilled bread and gravel. The wine is a true reflection of our favorite corner of Napa Valley, where volcanic soils and a light bay breeze give the wines a savory profile and a solid tannic structure. The energy of the wine lingers, with a tight grip on the palate and a lengthy, fruit driven finish. Age in the bottle will only add to the enjoyment, as more layers are revealed and the tannins are further polished by time.” – Andy Erickson, Winemaker
